THE NINE POINT SOMEONE

Well guys and gals I am back with my new post after a long hibernation. In this period many things have happened in my life (as well as yours). The biggest thing that has happened is Sachin has scored a double ton..yipee !!

Any ways coming to the topic now , first let me make it very clear to all readers that it is no copyright violation of Mr.Bhagat’s famous best seller neither it is a sequel to it. It is just a experience in my college of a very admired and sort after thing “THE 9(NINE) POINTER”. In acad lingo these are the guys having their CGPA >9. Crossing this “digit” make one feels like you have crossed the “English Channel” in one leap (at least to some people).

Everyone knows about the good of being a 9 pointer and what all they get, no need for me to repeat it. But looking through the lenses of a man (that’s me) who looks at life in a very different manner brings forth to u all the SIDE EFFECTS of being a nine pointer. They are summarized as below :

Ø THE GREAT EXPECTATIONS….. no I am not talking of the novel by Charles Dickens u all read but of the expectation that shoot up in the mind of your family, friends, relatives and all. The expectations grow bigger and bigger and bigger and ….till it bursts. They expect you to solve every problem in life just like a numerical method problem. You must have all the solution…that’s what they tell everyone and also believe it… At least to me this sucks!!

Ø Next.. how about the professors. They feel that the nine pointers are challenging their position and job in the college (especially the junior lecturers). To add to that they feel that these guys should know the answer to all heir question (even if their question is baseless or wrong!! ).Oh..come on!! the 9 pointers are mere mortals, who have some extra capability of gulping the data and information given in the class room and “vomiting” it out on the examination answer sheet. That’s what you require to cross the “English Channel” ( at least in my college)

Ø One does not have the freedom to sit anywhere inside the class room. The “hooting” starts the moment you step beyond the 2nd row. Its just like, hey dude you have reservation in 1st or 2nd row only and you cannot leave it !!. And to sit in the front row means you cannot hide yourself for a nice “class room” sleep (which every student requires.. he may be a 9pointer or 6 pointer)!

Ø Oh, how can I forget about the assignments and test. These are the time when you feel that one should never be a 9 pointer. Man! you don’t have the option to copy from someone else the assignment !! (bcoz everyone in class expects you to do it of your own and rest will do the holy task of plagiarizing) .

Ø And then comes the most “hurting” part of all… “THE GPLs “.. (those who don’t know the meaning plzz don’t refer any dictionary but ask any NITR student). Apart from the regular GPL on your B’Days, the student get another chance to train themselves for “kickboxing” competition by treating your “a##” as a punching bag. And believe me, it really hurts !!

Ø Also you got to have the bucks to spend on the “treats” that follow up along with your 9 pointer. In this case other pointers are better off, bcoz you need not do any hard work nor shell out any bucks, but only enjoy the treat…… :-)

So what say guys????? Whats better ....being one or not being one??? :-)

PS: I am myself a 9 pointer and these have been written from my experience. Please don't generalize it and have a go at the 9 pointer :-)
